Kooyong Stadium Redevelopment

Kooyong Tennis Club Redevelopment

Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club is undergoing an $18 million redeveloped in 2019 and 2020, known as Kooyong – Beyond 2020, a masterplan for future development of the famous venue.

The 8,500-capacity centre court will be significantly reduced in size, with the removal of the majority of the upper grandstands. The horseshoe-shaped arena is being stripped back to the low-line level of the early 1930s, removing the upper sections added in the 1950s. Only the northern upper four tiers, added in 1934, will remain.

The removal of the grandstands will allow other facilities to be built including additional car parking. Stage two of the redevelopment will feature an extended clubhouse with enhanced corporate hospitality viewing of centre court, along with an upgrade of the stadium’s seating. The jewel in the crown will be a function area that looks over the grass courts and into the stadium.
