La Trobe Sports Park
The La Trobe Sports Park is a multi-sport facility located at the main campus of La Trobe University in the northern Melbourne suburb of Bundoora. Stage two of the $150 million Sports Park development was completed in January 2020 and included the construction of the La Trobe Sports Stadium - an indoor facility featuring six multi-purpose courts, of which a showcourt can be configured to seat 2250 spectators with the use of temporary grandstands. A 1100-seat retractable grandstand will soon be installed at the venue.
Stage one was completed in December 2018 and included an AFL oval, a FIFA-1 accredited synthetic football pitch and a modern pavilion featuring nine change rooms and function room.
The Home of the Matildas, a new high-performance facility for the Australian Women's national team opened at the La Trobe Sports Park in July 2023 prior to the FIFA Women's World Cup in July 2023. The facility is also a training, high-performance and administration centre for Football Victoria and home ground of Melbourne Victory's A-League women's team.
The Baseball Field at La Trobe University hosted the 2010 Claxton Shield Final and is situated beside the new pavilion and has a capacity of around 1,500. This field has since been relocated.
Previously located at La Trobe University was the City Football Academy - the training and administration centre of the Melbourne City Football Club. Opened in February 2015, the facility included training pitches for the first team, two elite youth team pitches, dedicated community pitches, world-class medical and sports science facilities and expansive office space. The club has since relocated to Casey Fields with the old facility abandoned.
