Melbourne Ballpark
The Melbourne Ballpark is Victoria's premier baseball stadium and is located in Altona, about 15 minutes from the Melbourne CBD. The centre was opened in 1990 and was upgraded in 2012 to coincide with the arrival of the Melbourne Aces (ABL) to the venue. The renovations included a new infield surface with game day synthetic grass provided by AstroTurf. A new video screen was installed in 2019.
In addition to the new infield surface, the outfield turf has been re-conditioned to meet the high standards required by Major League Baseball and the Australian Baseball League. Other upgrades include new corporate boxes, extended player amenities, stadium seating reconditioning and the addition of a state of the art sound system.
The facility includes a main grandstand which seats around 2,200 with approximately 1/3 of them under cover. There are hills down each of the base lines, and a total capacity of just over 5,000. The centre has TV standard lighting and plenty of on-site parking for spectators.
