Canberra Stadium

Rejected Proposal

A new stadium in Canberra was proposed as part of Australia's bid for the 2018 or 2022 FIFA World Cup's. The new stadium would be situated next to the existing stadium and would seat 40,000 during the tournament, then reduced to 27,000. There have since been renewed calls to build a new 'Canberra Civic Stadium' closer to the heart of Canberra, with a roof covering it to protect fans from the cold.
