Macquarie Point Stadium
A new stadium will be built in Hobart following confirmation that Tasmania will join the AFL and federal funding was committed. There has been various stadium proposals in recent years, with the latest a 23,000 roofed stadium, set to open in 2029 - Mac Point Stadium.

A previous proposal had a new 27,000-capacity stadium located nearby at Regatta Point, however this would require building over the river which would ultimately prove too expensive.
An even earlier proposal was for a 27,000-capacity stadium at Macquarie Park to serve as the base of a new Tasmanian AFL club. Part of an effort to attract top sporting codes to the state of Tasmania, the ‘Tas Park’ masterplan was developed by architect, and Hobart Brewing Company co-owner, Don Gallagher. The $500 million stadium complex is proposed for a largely vacant Macquarie Point waterfront site would also include a hotel, convention centre, restaurants and cafes.
