The redevelopment of Ballymore Stadium, including construction of the National Rugby Training Centre, has passed the halfway mark.

The roof is now in place of the 3010-seat grandstand, while the precast seating platforms were installed during September. The concourse deck has also been completed, giving fans the prefect view of the playing field.

The roof's structure is made-up of 83 tonnes of steel trusses and 30 tonnes of steel purlins which are the horizontal beams across the length of the roof.

Work is progressing inside the facility also, with wall framing on the ground floor starting in September and progressing well.

Features of the $31.5 million National Rugby Training Centre a 3010-seat integrated grandstand with modern corporate facilities, 700 square-metre gym, player rehabilitation area, 75-seat auditorium, 120-seat function room, change rooms and admin offices.

The aluminium grandstand at the northern end of the ground has been removed, however the famous hill at the other end will remain.

Once completed in early 2023, the iconic Herston facility will have a capacity of 15,000, including seating for 10,000 spectators.

Ballymore will host Hockey during the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games, with two portable hockey pitches to be installed. Additional temporary grandstands will boost capacity, while the 7000-seat eastern grandstand will need to be refurbished.

The former home of the Queensland Reds won’t host Super Rugby matches, with the Reds to continue playing home games at Suncorp Stadium, however it will host SuperW, trial and community matches.
