Sunshine Coast Stadium
Sunshine Coast Stadium is a modern rectangular regional venue located at Kawana Waters (near Caloundra) on Queensland's Sunshine Coast. Having constructed the main field at Stockland Park (formerly known as Quad Park) to national standard in 2007, the stadium was further developed by the Sunshine Coast Regional Council with the construction of a grandstand with high-standard player and spectator facilities that comply with state sports venue standards.
The $10 million grandstand was completed in June 2011 and includes seating for 1,050 and high standard player and spectator facilities across three levels, state-of-the-art player change rooms, coaches' boxes, medical rooms and catering facilities. Temporary seating boosts total capacity up to 12,000. International broadcast standard lighting was installed in 2020 and there are further plans to boost the seating capacity of the stadium in the future.
Sunshine Coast Stadium caters for Rugby League, Rugby Union and Football. The venue hosted its first regular-season NRL game between the Rabbitohs and Warriors in front of 11,912 fans in 2019 and will again host games in 2020. It has also hosted pre-season NRL and A-League matches.
Original plans for the grandstand were for it to include 3,700 seats and be curved in shape to allow for Australian Football matches at the venue with temporary seats bringing fans closer for rectangular sports. However, this didn't occur and the venue is instead a rectangular field.
