Cairns Pop-Up Arena
The Cairns Pop-Up Arena is a temporary sports stadium in Cairns to host basketball and netball while the Cairns Convention Centre is being redeveloped. Located in a former Bunnings Warehouse on Spence Street near Barlow Park, the arena has a floor space of 6,500 square metres on a 4.8 hectare site and includes grandstand seating for 2,000 spectators. It will host home games for NBL club Cairns Taipans, WNBL matches, and has already hosted Super Netball matches in September 2020. The temporary indoor arena includes elements from the Convention Centre, including the court and seating. The facility also features broadcast lighting, broadcast-level stands, video scoreboards, PA system, change rooms, air-conditioning and catering equipment.
