Boyer Oval
Boyer Oval is located in the picturesque Derwent Valley, 38kms North of Hobart. The ground was built for the people of New Norfolk and the Football Club by Australian Newsprint Mills and in some ways, could be the first Corporate named ground in the state, as the name "Boyer" is named after ANM's mill - 6kms from the town on the opposite side of the River Derwent.
Boyer Oval has one main stand, named the L.W Hepper Stand which was built in 1961 into the side of the hill on the wing. The ground also has brand new change rooms which were built by the Derwent Valley Council in the late 1990's to replace the old Hydro sheds at the Fifth Avenue end.
The Boyer Oval is one of the bigger grounds for football in the state with it measuring 172m x 118m. The oval is surrounded by large pine trees at the Queenstown end, and has a very rural look about it. The ANM social club struck a deal with management where for every dollar the social club raised, ANM would match it provided the ground be built with the same dimensions as the MCG.
