Adelaide Oval Redevelopment

The current phase of the Adelaide Oval is to build two new grandstands (eastern & southern) to complement the new western (members) grandstand which was recently completed. The hill at the northern end will also have major works completed. Major construction works on this phase of development commenced in the first quarter of 2012. All parties are working towards Test cricket being played at the venue in the summer of 2013/14 and for AFL games to be played at Adelaide Oval in the 2014 season. It is intended cricket will be played at Adelaide Oval throughout the construction period.

Baulderstone Pty Ltd has been awarded the construction contract to redevelop Adelaide Oval. The State Government had secured a construction price of $350.2m for the stadium build plus a Government-controlled project contingency in excess of 7 per cent. A separate provision has also been made for sufficient fit-out funding to deliver the stadium within budget.

The proposed design of the new Adelaide Oval incorporates a seating capacity of 50,000. The new southern and eastern stands will seat about 14,000 and 19,000 respectively.
