Perth’s Optus Stadium with host one of the world’s biggest clubs in two matches over the next week, as part of Manchester United’s Australian tour.

The 60,000-capacity venue will host Manchester United v Perth Glory on Saturday evening (July 13), before facing-off against English rivals Leeds United on Wednesday evening (July 17).

The two games will attract over 100,000 fans and the Man Utd v Leeds game may push the record attendance, which currently stands at 59,721 for the State of Origin match last month. The seating map shows that temporary seating at the front of level one on three sides may be used for the first time.

Like much of the city, Optus Stadium has been painted red while the powerhouse club is in the Western Australian capital. The $1.6 billion stadium is equipped with the best LED lighting of any Australian stadium and they are shining red.

Man Utd trained at the WACA Ground on Thursday evening, attended by around 14,000 fans. The club won’t train on the Optus Stadium pitch prior to Saturday’s game. Leeds United will hold their open training session at Glory’s home ground, HBF Park, on July 16.

Optus Stadium has previously held two football matches – Chelsea v Perth Glory a year ago, played in front of 55,522 fans, and more recently, the 2019 A-League Grand Final, where the Perth Glory lost on penalties in front of a crowd of 56,371.

Following the two big games in Perth, Leeds United will continue to Sydney, where they’ll take on Western Sydney Wanderers in the first ever football game at the new Bankwest Stadium. It'll also be the first time safe standing has been used at an Australian stadium.
