Allianz Stadium new name for SFS
The Sydney Football Stadium has been rebranded Allianz Stadium following the announcement of a 10-year multi-million dollar naming rights agreement.
The deal was struck between the Sydney Cricket Ground Trust, New South Wales Government and Allianz Australia. The global insurance giant also holds the naming rights to Munich's Allianz Arena.
The SCG Trust is promising to re-invest some of the money involved in the sponsorship agreement in improving the facilities around the stadium.
SCG Trust chief executive Jamie Barkley said the Trust's vision, as part of its long-term master plan, was for dramatic lighting to be introduced to the stadium exterior as well as modifying the iconic roof.
"The Trust will now accelerate plans to upgrade facilities for the benefit of fans,'' Barkley said.
"Allianz Stadium will offer a new dining level and food court on level three with works already underway in the Nick Shehadie Stand to provide improved facilities and amenities for spectators.
"These improvements will be progressively implemented so existing facilities and match-day experiences are among the best.''
The iconic 45,000-capacity Moore Park venue is the home ground of Sydney Roosters, Wests Tigers, NSW Waratahs & Sydney FC.
The venue has had one previous naming rights holder with Aussie Home Loans securing the rights between 2002 & 2007 when it was known as Aussie Stadium.
Next year, Allianz Stadium will celebrate its 25th anniversary.
