The new 5,000-seat show court at Melbourne Park has officially been named Kia Arena ahead of the 2022 Australian Open.

Located between Rod Laver Arena and John Cain Arena, the new show court is partially sunken into the ground and features an open-roof structure that provides shade and weather protection for fans.

The arena was part of the $271.5 million third stage of the Melbourne Park redevelopment, which also includes the CENTREPIECE conference and events centre, and completes the ten year transformation of the venue.

The multi-year agreement with the car manufacturer includes internal and external signage around the arena, digital signage on the venue’s entrances, and multiple flagpoles surrounding it.

Australian Open Tournament Director Craig Tiley said, “The naming of Kia Arena today is another example of the strength of our partnership and provides a year-round platform for Kia to showcase the great relationship between Kia and the AO.

“Kia Arena is a spectacular new asset and provides another premium space for our fans to enjoy great tennis in January.”

Kia has been a sponsor of the Australian Open for 21 years and the new naming-rights agreement is recognition of the long-term partnership.

The new venue will make its debut at the 2022 Australian Open which begins on January 17, with tickets available online through Ticketmaster.
