Two matches will each be played at Adelaide Oval and UTAS Stadium in Launceston during week one of the finals.

Both stadiums are at reduced capacity due to Covid restrictions, with UTAS Stadium able to cater for 10,000 spectators, while Adelaide's capacity will be boosted from 15,000 to 20,000 spectators, after an announcement by South Australian premier Steven Marshall on Thursday.

Both games at UTAS Stadium sold out within hours and although both games are currently limited to 10,000 spectators, the Tasmanian government is reviewing a request by the AFL to increase the crowd capacity, with Public Health expected to make an announcement later this week.

Additional tickets for the two games at Adelaide Oval will go on sale Thursday afternoon through Ticketek.

The AFL recently announced the pre-finals bye would be scrapped, with week one of the finals series to commence immediately following the conclusion of the premiership season, which wrapped up on Sunday.

The 2021 AFL Grand Final is still set for Saturday, September 25, giving the AFL flexibility to have a week off either before the Grand Final or preliminary finals to allow for a quarantine period. While the Victorian Government hasn't given up hope of hosting the Grand Final at the MCG, it's becoming more and more likely to be relocated to either Perth's Optus Stadium or Adelaide Oval, with the AFL expected to make an announcement soon.
