Upgrade works have commenced at AAMI Park ahead of the Women’s World Cup, including the installation of new video screens.

The $25 million upgrade is the first significant works completed at Melbourne’s premier rectangular stadium since its opening in 2010.

Funded by the Victorian Government, the upgrades will deliver exciting benefits for both players and spectators.

Two new curved video screen which are significantly larger than their predecessors and said to be the first of their kind in Australia will be installed.

Works have commenced, with the southwest video screen currently decommissioned. Once the new video board is installed in this location, the northeast video board will be decommissioned and replaced.

Also as part of the upgrades, state-of-the-art LED sports light technology will be introduced in the light towers and under the roof canopy, while static advertising and wayfinding boards will be replaced with LED technology.

There will also be improvements to player facilities, and reconfiguration and upgrades to broadcast and corporate hospitality areas.

AAMI Park said on its website, “We apologise for any inconvenience experienced on event day, but look forward to our guests having the opportunity to enjoy the upgrades once complete.”

Works will be completed ahead of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 in which AAMI Park will host six matches during the tournament, including a group-stage fixture featuring the Matildas.
