The new State Centre of Football in South Australia has officially opened, which the venue is now commercially known as ServiceFM Stadium following a naming-rights deal.

The $26 million football facility located in Gepps Cross commenced operations in mid-April this year and has hosted more than 500 training sessions, 300 games and welcomed in excess of 26,000 spectators.

The venue features a main stadium with a 1,000-seat grandstand and 7,000 total capacity, a two-storey administration and function centre for Football SA, two full size synthetic floodlit training pitches, football museum, change rooms and 10 outdoor five-a-side pitches.

The project received $19 million in funding from the previous South Australian Labor Government.

At the venue’s official opening on July 16, it was announced the facility would be known as ServiceFM Stadium following a five-year sponsorship deal.

ServiceFM Managing Director James Pollock said the naming rights deal was a good fit for ServiceFM, a national facility management company currently undergoing a strong growth phase.

“This is an excellent strategic partnership with Football SA and we’re keen to make the most of the opportunity that having naming rights for this brand-new stadium will present” said Pollock.

“We know how much the football community has craved the development of this stadium and we’re excited to be involved in a sport that generates such massive interest across the nation.”

Katrine Hildyard MP said, “I am thrilled about the opportunities the facility presents to make sport more accessible to more people.”

“This is a world-class community sports hub which has been designed to support the growing popularity of football for many years to come.”

“I’m particularly excited about how the Centre will help grow female participation in the world game. Next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup provides a once in a generation opportunity to leave a legacy for the sport in South Australia and for our community.”

“Having the Young Matildas and other international teams showcase their talent here will inspire girls and boys to pursue their sporting dreams.  And having this facility will enable more people to enjoy all of the benefits that sport brings – that wonderful sense of belonging and an opportunity to improve physical, mental and emotional health and wellbeing.”

Michael Carter, Chief Executive Officer of Football SA said, “The State Centre of Football is a great example of a facility that is catering for the grassroots all the way to the elite level of the game. The football family have embraced the venue as have the wider community.”

The stadium, located on Matildas Drive, Gepps Cross, can host State League fixtures, Australia Cup matches, pre-season and competitive A League Men’s and Women’s matches.
