Liverpool Sports and Entertainment Centre

Rejected Proposal

The city of Liverpool in Sydney's West proposed a $600 million roofed-stadium in 2015, several years after the 'Oasis Stadium' was proposed (see below). The proposed hi-tech stadium was inspired by the University of Phoenix Stadium, where the XLIX Super Bowl was held. Its entire field can be wheeled outside and replaced with a convention centre floor. Liverpool’s planned version was estimated to cost about $600 million and would be delivered in 10 years at Woodward Park, with 30,000 seats. Cr Mannoun said it was critical Liverpool’s stadium proposal was flexible to ensure the venue would not just used by sporting teams.

Proposed Liverpool Stadium

It's not the first time a stadium has been proposed for the Woodward Park site in Liverpool. Several years ago, a new $1 billion Oasis Sporting Complex was proposed for the same area, however that too was scrapped. The outdoor 34,000 all-seater rectangular stadium was to play host to Rugby League, Union and Soccer and be home of NRL club Canterbury Bulldogs - alongside a 7,000-seat indoor arena.
