Rushton Park - A new future beckons

The City of Mandurah is set to embark on an ambitious project that will provide the citizens of the city with a modern stadium. WAFL side Peel Thunder will call this stadium home.

Redevelopment of Rushton Park is well under way with Stage 1 recently completed and Stage 2 is set to get under way shortly. The redevelopment is intended to support football in Mandurah and the Peel region. With Mandurah City Council's investment Peel Thunder will remain a viable entrant in the WAFL for years to come.

Stage One was recently completed with the addition of new team change rooms. While Stage Two is set to get underway and will include the construction of administration facilities, sheltered spectator seating and media facilities. Stage Three is believed to include further upgrading of the Catering, dining and entertainment facilities of the ground.

Mandurah City Council's Senior Recreational Officer Gemma Norwell told austadiums.com that the ground will become the lifeblood of sport in the Peel Region.  

"Rushton Park Sporting Complex has been a major sporing facility in Mandurah for well over thirty years...The City of Mandurah are taking positive steps to support the future of Rushton Park"

"There is a need for not only more facilities at a local level but also more sophisticated facilities to accommodate a higher standard of competition and a greater demand for spectator accommodation...The stadium is part of the Peel Region Sport and Recreation Facilities plan" Norwell explained

The City of Mandurah's commitment of bringing quality sporting infrastructure to the region is set to continue, with plans in the future to design a regional complex of excellence in the cities eastern suburbs, which is certain to delight the populace of the Peel Region.
