The Adelaide Crows Football Club has revealed plans for a $65 million training and administration base at North Adelaide.

If successful, it’ll mean the AFL club will move to the northern parklands after almost 30 years at West Lakes at the now-demolished Football Park – where the oval and Crows HQ still stands.

The club presented the designs of their sporting and community hub to Adelaide City Council on Tuesday night. After a vigorous discussion lasting more than two hours, the council voted to allow the Crows' plan to go out for public consultation.

The Crows' plan for Park 2 in North Adelaide was presented to the council and the public for the first time last night.

It includes a two-storey building with a gym and swimming pool, along with an upgraded oval on Barton Terrace West.

The swimming pool would be open to the public, and the oval would be unfenced.

The facility would replace the existing aquatic centre on Jeffcott Road. A separate report found $21 million would need to be spent on the aging centre over the next 10 years to keep it up to standard.

The Federal Government has already pledged $15 million towards the development.

The presentation to council outlined how the proposal could reduce the existing building footprint and therefore return accessible green landscapes parklands to the community, facilitate increased linkages to O’Connell Street, and provide public access to high-quality sporting ovals.
