Sharks to relocate to Kogarah in 2020
The Cronulla Sharks have announced they’ll relocate home games to Jubilee Stadium in 2020 while their traditional home Shark Park is closed for renovations.
The NRL club will play 11 home games in Dragons territory next year, with remaining games to be played at Sunshine Coast Stadium.
The Sharks are planning to redevelop their Leagues Club at PointsBet Stadium into a state-of-the-art entertainment venue that will be part of a commercial-retail precinct. Plans include a proposed 1,800 metre² deck located off the new club that includes a pool and overlooks the ground. It’s believed the actual stadium and seating bowl will remain unchanged.
PointsBet Stadium will be closed for two years and the club is yet to confirm where home games will be played in 2021.
CEO Richard Munro said it was the overwhelming preference for key parties in the decision.
“While there were many ideas put forward, Netstrata Jubilee Stadium emerged as the clear preference of our stakeholders,” Mr Munro said.
“Jubilee Stadium is only about 10 kms up the road from PointsBet Stadium and it is accessible by both road and rail.
“So it is a convenient option for all Sharks supporters and commercial partners.
