Ballarat City Oval
The City Oval near Lake Wendouree in Ballarat is an oval sports ground located in the Victorian regional city that primarily hosts Australian football. It features an historic grandstand with undercover seating for 1,000 spectators and the Saxon House - an office building which is the home of AFL Goldfields. A gravel/tarmac hill surrounds the remainder of the ground, part of which cars are able to park on, with a total capacity of around 10,000. Beautiful elm trees surround the ground.
The ground received an $1.6 million upgrade in 2018 which included the removal of the fire training track in front of the grandstand, reconstruction of the playing arena to make it oval shaped and closer to the grandstand, as well as 200 lux lighting. The turf cricket wicket was also removed as part of its resurfacing. The City Oval is the home of the Redan Football Club, former home of the Ballarat Football Club, and hosts Ballarat Football Netball League finals matches.
