I found the lack of that sort of stuff at the A-League GF (and at the regular matches for that matter) refreshing.

The players came out, sung the national anthem, shook hands, posed for their team photos and then got on with it. No dicking about with choreographed fireworks and cheerleaders, those wiggly arm air men, or 3 hours of prematch singsongs with Australian Idol runnerups.

It painted a very mature picture of Australian Football.

2000 Grand Final was all the more memorable for the sheer quality of pre-match entertainment...sorry but I disagree with you.

Balloons around the entire stadium, people parachuting onto the ground, fireworks, We Will Rock You Chants, Those massive baloons, Singing and dancing on the field...

Makes a Grand Final special...

Mate I was first a football fan...watch an AFL Grand Final and understand why I expect pre-match entertainment before a major event...

It added to the sensational feel at the stadium.

I'll have a Grand Final with Pre-Match Entertainment any day of the week...and ask most in Perth and you will get the same answer.

There is no known record of "entertainment" before an AFL grand final.

We do have something in common after all. However growing up i realised just how much wankery and ill-taste goes (Id like to see that!) into grand final prematch entertainment, to the point that it actually detracts from the spectacle.

You would sit through that any day of the week?

All personal tastes, for me it is the appetiser for the opening whistle...I feel a bit flat if the appetiser isn't good enough.

Thats soccer fans for you.There idea for pre-match entertainment is to go around a stick knifes and bottles into the visting teams fans.Then you have the celebrations by players when they score a goal and start whipping there tops off to show us there very average bodies and all jump on each other like a gay sauna orgy( well sol campell and ashley cole might know a thing or 2 about that one
