To further put it in context Rugby Union has 146,893 players in New Zealand and if their equivalent of the ABS is to be believed they don't rate in the top 20 recreational activities meaning that Union is behind 7 other sports in New Zealand on a participation basis.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.
The claims of Australasian Rules Football in 1885:
1. Taking over NSW,
2. Taking over Queensland,
3. New Zealand will be alone of the Australasian colonies if it does not swap to the Victorian game,
and I kid you not,
4. The game will shortly take over in England.

The "expansion" of the game is all about reinforcing the image of strength for the game at home. How could you dare criticse us when things are going so swimmingly well that we're expanding to new frontiers?

Those skinny lads need to hit the AOD9604. GHPR-6, Thymosin beta 4, Hexarelin, Pig's brain extract or Colostrum.

Why does New Zealand need AFL when it already has one of the bogan games.

St Kilda aiming for 10,000 kiwi members by 2020, on the strength of playing a game there.
They're also guaranteeing a premiership by 2020, and changing the club's off field culture which is by far the biggest joke of the 3.
No word on whether they're counting kiwis that live in Melbourne.

You clearly live in some dark, anti-Australian enclave hidden away from the light the truth and the way.

Keep up with the program Ian. The AFL continually reinvent the GWS geographical boundaries and names to suit. You now live in Chatham Island West which makes you a Westie and of course eligible for free tickets to Spotless Stadium like other Westies. Your alternative is to pop down to the Caketin in St Kilda.
