i vote the crusaders move the waratahs game to greymouth, since they were going to wear west coast jerseys for the match.

And it would have to be at the RL ground Wingham Park, which has loads more seating than Rugby (Union) Park.

That's a shame. Was probably the best stadium of the lot...

It was also their second largest and they really only have 3 biggish stadiums to begin with. That's a huge blow.

I have heard results from some of the inspections and the structural undermining of the stadium due to the liquefaction is quite serious and it will be a long time before it can reopen (if it can) as it is no easy fix.

It's a massive shame. AMI Stadium is my favorite New Zealand venue. Also it would have such a positive for Christchurch to host World Cup games following all they've been to. So soon after completing the major redevelopment of the venue... hopefully it can be repaired ASAP.

It is a real shame it would of been the best thing for a rugby loving city to rally around...but now they have been kicked in the nuts by the IRB instead.

Are there any photos floating about of AMI post-earthquake?

That photo that crow has shown is the venue post-earthquake.
Crow, was a big fan when me and Ian were watching demolition during the construction of the Deans Stand.
Auckland is going to be crazily busy...I'd get out of town during the finals period.

Re: World Cup 2011 - Stadia
today cameras were allowed into ami stadium for the first time. the pitch is beyond f***ed. the turf and drainage needs replaced. broken windows aplenty in the stands, and the new stand has a noticeable slump (didn't personally see it on tv coverage).
hoping to be good to go feb 1 2012.

Be good to get a Nux game around February 2012. Crowds will be pretty big for any sporting event in Christchurch, with how long they would have waited for sport to be played in the city...IanRitchie wrote:today cameras were allowed into ami stadium for the first time. the pitch is beyond f***ed. the turf and drainage needs replaced. broken windows aplenty in the stands, and the new stand has a noticeable slump (didn't personally see it on tv coverage).
