Save the voucher. The first old foe derby is usually the best attended. Check the weather forecast and go to the season opener between them, it's a guaranteed night out.

Got to use it by December 31st.

But with a mortgage on the way, Adelaide is going to be an awfully attractive cheap getaway post July next year.

East Freo in to Foxtel Cup final.

Great little competition. $100k prize money is nice income for a local team. Hopefully the competition gets some traction, and maybe we'll see the prize money upped?

I haven't seen figures so low other than three-match weekends... all the bandwagoners and fair-weather supporters are nowhere to be seen.

Adelaide Winters cannot be avoided.

I always found it disappointing though that the SANFL doesn't schedule its 3 match bye rounds during the periods likely to draw the lowest crowds.

Good to see Westies defeted Claremont in the Foxtel Cup on Tuesday night in front of only what could be described as a bumper crowd of around 500 at AAMI Stadium.

Westies take on East Freo tonight at Football Park for a 100k cheque and bragging rights. I'll be watching. Bit different - on the couch in NSW watching Westies on cable. Not as funny as watching them on TV in a pub in Newtown a couple of years ago, but still fun!

So, Westies are champions of Australia this year. East Freo kicked a staggering 2.16 - 28.

The highlight of the telecast was the interview with an East Freo player during the final quarter. Almost all the responses were one worders, except when asked what the coach said at 3/4 time.

"(goofball laugh) get in it ay!"

I suppose we should be grateful for the media training that full-time professionals receive, even if it does mean barely interesting grabs punctuated with heaps of y'knows, obviouslys and ums

A 6-2 majority of clubs have accepted the Crows reserves in to the SANFL. Port holding out because they don't accept the current terms of disbanding their junior league structure. And good on them quite frankly.

For local footy fans the good news is no byes and 5 game rounds. Hopefully this also means further diversification in fixture times.
