Amazing Crowds at Hopman Cup

Post by Egan »

The Hopman Cup as usual broke its own attendance record with 82,126 people watching 10 matches in the 8,500 seat configured court. This equates to about 8,200 people per match at the venue over 7 days showing the popularity and success that this has become. Its great to see a huge turnover like that and with the success of the Hopman Cup. The new redevelopment of PEC cannot come fast enough with the demand for tickets at Hopman Cup matches being extrodainary as witnessed by the massive crowds going to most of the matches.

The final between the U.S.A and Slovak Republic attracted 8564 people.

The same configuration will be in place for when the Wildcats play there this saturday, a game which will be beemed to about 300 million viewers world wide on pay tv in Asia.

wow great news for the hopman cup, but also great news for its future! this should definitely show the demand and need for a larger venue - hence improve the chances of the PEC proposal (which currently is proposed at about 11,500) :D
