Cricket 2009/10

Post by Egan »

Finally the international fixtures are out for Australia v New Zealand. A bit dissapointed about only 2 test matches in New Zealand.

I am hoping for A-League Grand Final in Wellington. Australia v New Zealand test match is on at same time 8)

Here are the fixtures...Wellington has everything...

I love the "I don't know how to catch a bus" argument. Obviously the judge doesn't think too highly of his mental capacity if thats the case.

If he played a code of football he'd be catching the bus.

Have they pushed back the start of the Sydney test by another day? I thought it was normally a 2nd of Jan start?

The players wanted more than a 2 day break but were too soft to play on Christmas Day like the Sheffield Shield players used to do before WW2.

LOL, there was no opportunity to join the union when I got the job anyways.

Lillee finally didn't say that we would win the shield this year.

Well day 1 has started. Queensland essentially thrashed the West Indies in the warm up game, and to be brutally honest, so far it's not looking good for the Windies boys. The channel Nine commentary boys are already annoying me, how long until I switch over to the ABC. And yes I really couldn't care to get along to over pay for food and beer and watch what is really a substandard test match cricket team.

Also what's the bet there is a special for day three of the test for kids getting in cheap or free, which of course falls on Saturday, and most of them will actually be out playing cricket instead of going to watch it  .

"... It's unfortunate if people are going to judge the popularity of Test cricket or international cricket by ... the crowds in attendance..."
The above quote by CA chief James Sutherland is one of the more astonishing examples of head-in-the-sand attitude I have ever read!

What other measurement of popularity could possible be more relevant than attendance?

TV Audiences. Sponsorship dollars. Official clothing sales?
