Re: The Western Sydney Football Club
Just to let you all know what they mean by 'foundation membership'.
A foundation membership is not a ticket to the any AFL game. It is simply $50 or something similar for the pre-season games against Swans/Gold Coast and the usual bumper stickers...
Still, good on them if they have sold that many. As much as AD pisses me off, I actually hope that GWS is a success so that all the leaguies in Sydney have a bit off egg on their face.

Membership has always been an important part of Aussie Rules clubs all over Australia. I joined Port Adelaide when I was 18, with no season's ticket part of the membership....just wanted to be a member of my club.

If that's the case I think they'd be majority Canberra members. These foundation memberships have been advertised on whatever passes for channel 10 here for a year.timmers wrote:Just to let you all know what they mean by 'foundation membership'.

Why is there a thread about a Sydney AFL club - the Magpies ?
Shouldn't it be the "Greater Western Sydney Giants" ?

The Magpies of Picken Oval are Western Suburbs, or Sydney (bizzarely).

If you can't beat them, ban them.
1 AFL field for every 68 West Sydney players
