Only another 28 years to take port's crown.
35,647 - biggest crowd since port v norwood 1999 (39,135)
This is going to end up like that scene from the mighty ducks (or was it champions?) where the coach of the gun team points at the one runner up prize of the last 50 gazillion years and hates on the guy for f***ing it up.

This is just one of those advantages that South Australia acquires due to dumb luck, then loses due to lack of maintenance / investment. And when they get superceded South Australians are generally oblivious.nobleoz wrote:That crowd would make the SANFL the best attended state league of any sport, wouldn't it? Which makes SA the best "2nd tier" league (IE not national league)
Example: South Australians still think Westfield Marion is the largest mall in the Southern Hemisphere.
The SANFL will be overtaken eventually. And when it happens the fans will stand on the outer insisting it's still the 2nd biggest league in Australia. The only real difference is that South Australian beer which became Kiwi Beer will be Japanese beer.

The only league capable of overtaking it is the WAFL, given it's probably the only other state league in Australia that draws consistent crowds over 1000 to every match.
But I can't see it happening anytime soon (although i'd be surprised if there isn't another 5-10% increase in WAFL crowds next season).
