Along with my Dad who dislikes the AFL and modern Australian football who previously made the quote "I'll never go to a game ever again", I too have entertained the thought of attending my first AFL game in 10 years.

Someone shoot me now!
Would you feel bad after the game if you went?
If it delivers entertainment and enjoyment to you, you can still critique the organisation, despite going to the game.
You would admit you still support Richmond, even if you don't watch the games. Is there any harm in fighting the war with the AFL and actually going to the game?
Or would you just not go on the principle that you have made a stand and you are not going back on it.
23k for a practice match is pretty good, especially given the lack of promotion. I would have guessed 20-25k before the game.
The last few years have been all over 30k, but they've also been derbies.
Thanks, Rob. I was wondering if the economic climate would affect attendances at the pre-season games.
Murdoch press has 2 articles today about the economy affecting survival of clubs. In SMH it is a general comment on Sydney NRL clubs. Of course they do not have the membership or attendances of AFL clubs.
In the Age Caroline Wilson suggests that Melbourne may go under some time. But it's hard to believe that Australia's oldest football club would be allowed to go under.
