Cannot wait to see Qatars new stadiums they look stunning. Building a 500 seater experiment stadium is something we should've done.

Maybe they could save themselves a bit of money and instead build a giant roof over the stands to shield the fans from the sun like they do at most other stadiums around the worldFox Sports News wrote:Qatar unveils 'artificial cloud' that will be used to cool stadiums during 2022 FIFA World Cup

Australians have always said clouds were hovering over Qatar's successful 2022 World Cup bid, but we didn't expect the Arab nation to take the claims literally.
The Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at Qatar University has unveiled a design of an artificial cloud, which will be used to shield football stadiums from the brutal desert heat during the tournament.
Saud Abdul Ghani, the man behind the design, says the project will be executed in collaboration with Qatar Science and Technology Park.
"Artificial cloud will move by remote control, made of 100 per cent light carbonic materials, fuelled by four solar-powered engines and it will fly high to protect direct and indirect sun rays to control temperatures at the open playgrounds," he said.
The initial model is set to cost $500,000 and Abdul Ghani said the design could also be used at beaches and car parks by using a mobile phone.

Re: Qatar 2022 Bid Stadiums
Sweet app for your IPhone.
The idea was first proposed by Buckminster Fuller along time back, but it was a floating city.
It was also proposed for one of the stadiums in China's Olympic bid, as the origional brief required a roof opening that could be closed, one of the entrants had a giant cloud ( Blimp) which just parked in the opening..(never happened with the birdsnest.)
Blimps and flares.....match made in heven...it will make a great album cover one day.

Re: Qatar 2022 Bid Stadiums
Has anyone gone back and read the first page of this thread recently? Man we were certain that this bid would run last...

Re: Qatar 2022 Bid Stadiums
That's because we were naive enough to consider the bid on its merits instead of the depth of its pockets

I think we took Indonesia's bid slightly more seriously then Qatar's.
