There was a lot of red dirt/dust floating around suggesting there may have been a recent speedway event when I visited

This is the kind of view Sydney FC fans will have to expect come December 12 at Palmerston North as FMG Stadium also has a dirt speedway with a high safety perimeter fence

Better known as the hometown of iconic NZ soft drink L&P, it is also one of the home venues of Thames Valley of the Heartland Championship. One thing I found interesting was the further north I went the more Speight's, a beer from the South Island sponsored teams

The venue is quite agricultural and very rural NZ. You'd almost expect Dog from Footrot Flats to wonder across the field and Fred Dagg to be there with a thermos and lamb sanga to be watching a match
