leigh,a village in wigan :wink: have bulit a £80million sports village

thats a picture of the entire development,including the pitches in the top right..the stadium has a capacity of 12,000 and will be home to the towns rugby league & football team,the site is also hopeful of being a base for a nation during the london 2012 olympics

Looks better than the model I saw.

Will they move in next year? Will Leigh RMI play there?

it'll be ready for the national league play offs they reckon,which is the end of august..and yep RMI are other other tenants..


interesting note, the rugby pitches up in the top corner are new home to leigh east A.R.F.L.C who play in one of the BARLA leagues..anyway...those pitches are them new 3G synthetic all weather surfaces,look at the picture above and you'll notice it's a darker green than the rest of the grass around..thats cos it's plastic :shock:

It's the future!

Nice looking venue. I think the club will do well out of it. Hilton Park is an absolute tip with little shelter. I wouldn't be surprised if this venue brings more fans to the game.

What now of Hilton Park? Tesco?
