Seems to be a waste of space these days.
Wonder what can be done?

QSAC is a wonderful legacy from the 1982 Commonwealth Games, evidenced by the fact the facilities are in high demand and hold over 100 events a year. The south side of Brisbane has almost no other athletics venues of decent standard.Froody wrote:Seems to be a waste of space these days.

Having said that, the vast 'temporary' stands around the perimeter of the main stadium are ghastly. I thought these might have found a better home at a suburban or regional venue, in doing so improving the scale of QSAC to be more suited to the events held there.

They should re-develop the place to reduce capacity to around 25,000 and increase the shade coverage

The capacity isn't needed but it's not an urgent/economic issue. It's aluminum. That sh*t just lasts and lasts. It "corrodes" by oxidising a nice powdery white coat over itself and that's it.
One of the few exceptions where the cost of long term maintenance wins out over demolition.
