Re: Is there a future for ANZ Stadium?
Im still fascinated with the End stand design.
Why design this small tier behind the goals?
Apart from making it retractable for Football/Soccer,then seems no other reason.
The Xsection doesnt really explain it either, but it would be a great idea!

Ok,Ive answered the question myself
A small section of moveable stands north and south will enable ANZ Stadium to get fans closer to the action behind the goals than at any other stadium in the country for Rugby League, Football and Rugby Union.

Re: Is there a future for ANZ Stadium?
Considering the negligible capacity difference between the old and new......... it is truly disturbing how bad the sight lines are in the current design.
That cross section image should be shown every time a government releases fap material about hosting the Olympics. They really are single use stadiums.
Now that it's clear the stadium is being truly redeveloped instead of the usual lipstick on a pig approach... yeah i take it all back. This will be a bangable stadium, finally.

Premier Baird is back and insists that Allianz will be rebuilt to 55k capacity on its current site. If they do that its doubtful there will be enough funds to do this rebuild of ANZ. Its sad if that happens.

Nothing in attendances indicates the market wants a stadium bigger than 25k in Moore Park. Sad outcome definitely. Definitely a few blowjobs and photos back in the day to get the SCG trust where it is now.gyfox wrote:Premier Baird is back and insists that Allianz will be rebuilt to 55k capacity on its current site. Yes seems that the NSW government is doing their best to get the worst outcome for stadiums in Sydney for some political game that the stadium uses give 0 fucks about

Re: Is there a future for ANZ Stadium?
Not Homebush related, but on the utter shittiness of single purpose Olympic Stadiums. Work progresses on the London OS to prepare it for the Hammers. Original plans had the capacity at 54k, which involved curtaining off swathes of grandstand. In response to strong demand they're now going for 60k. The kicker is they're now butting up against the maximum FIFA compliant viewing distances to get the capacity. If you imagine that almost the whole of the MCG fits within that envelope with a capacity of 100k you just have to imagine how impossibly sh*t the London OS is for viewing angles and distances if it barely yields more than half of that.

Fairfax thinks NSW has backed down on the new Kippax stadium. This seems more like playing both sides to up circulation, because usually when state governments have stupid ideas they really double down on them.

Looks like common sense has prevailed.
The redevelopment of ANZ Stadium(yes, the one that shouldve been done in 2001) will now happen and every code is happier for it.

Baird announced: Parramatta first. ANZ second starting in 2019. Allianz gets the leftovers.

Not sure I can remember such a professional humiliation for a minister before - and by his own Premier no less! How on earth does he retain his job after this about-face?gyfox wrote:Baird announced: Parramatta first. ANZ second starting in 2019. Allianz gets the leftovers.

At least Parramatta fans can soon brag about having the best stadium in the NRL
