Post by Timbo »

I struggle to think of any other than 1300Smiles Stadium. Sounds terrible!

The Wankdorf and Wankhede stadiums are worse but those are actual names and have nothing to do with naming rights.

Who cares.

A company has paid money to for the use of the naming rights stadium. It sounds terrible, big deal. Doesn't change a thing in reality.

I know, hence the thread.

This is a forum where we discuss things about stadiums, remember?

However for a whimsical one, the original name of MinuteMade Park in Houston was Enron Field before, you know.

I probably shouldn't point out that the ground tenant West Adelaide's major sponsor advertised its specialty in "hot dip galvanising."

Is it Glenelg who play at Gliderol stadium? That sounds like personal lubricant to me.

Sounds pretty bad, but the holding company of KFC is actually called Yum! Brands.

Still makes for a goofy name, just like Dick's Sporting Goods Park, home of the Colorado Rapids in MLS.
