Good to see this be proposed...lower bowl looks quite steep in the video.

Pretty difficult to avoid in Tassie given they make up 99% of the population.

Clarence Council approved the upgrade on Monday and today the State Government announced it will match the Feds $15m funding of the stadium from its 2014/15 infrastructure budget. Not sure how that works as the project is to start in May this year. Its seems that you can use money that you won't have in 2014/15 despite it being in the budget to build something now because you don't have the money now.

Tasmanian firm Vos Constructions has won the tender for the $30m upgrade to Bellerive Oval/Blundstone Arena. It a bit bigger project than I have seen them do before but they have a very good reputation.

I'm pining for Bellerive. It can be the new Kardinia Park with a fully relocated numpty team from Melbourne. Be the next Geelong FC. Believe!

But seriously, wtf were they thinking with the stand containing the corporates/commentary boxes etc. What a bloody disgrace...

Good for the state that a local company won the job (assuming there were interstaters on the tender).
Correct me if i'm wrong don't Vos specialise in mainly Joinery and Shopfitting?

Vos have a joinery and shop fitting arm but they have been active in construction here for quite a while. Projects include IXL Apartments in Hobart ($12m), the nearly completed Kingston High School ($27m), IXL Redevelopment on the Hobart waterfront ($20m+), Elwick Racecourse Grandstand $11m, Henry Jones Art Hotel in Hobart ($10m), Sebel Hotel and Apartments in Launceston ($13m), Launceston Airport Terminal ($12m), and quite a few projects under $10m including warehouse complexes, shopping centres, Holden dealerships, UTAS School of Architecture, nursing homes etc. They have won both national and state awards from the Master Builders Association. My firsthand knowledge of their work is on the UTAS School of Architecture and Design which involved the re-use of a 1950's railway diesel workshops by inserting a 3 story teaching and research complex into the main and secondary halls using an industrial aesthetic that won Australian Institute of Architects National Awards in the categories of Heritage and Sustainability.

Any Hobart locals around to give an indication of how the project is coming alone? The webcam on the website is a little blurry, but it seems as though work has commenced.

Wow - a cricket ground's redevelopment of a grandstand running behind schedule. Now why does that ring a bell?

*cough* SCG *cough*
