Three years with no exhibition centre will probabyl see some more conventions and exhibitions at Sydney Olympic Park in that time which is good news for that precinct.

The auditorium capacity goes up from 6000 (in the report that started this thread) to 8000 in today's reports. This will be good for the Sydney Kings who still have at least another season at the SEC. Where they will play during/after the rebuilding is anyone's guess? Probably the State Sports Centre.

Which is still down (significantly) on the current capacity of the SEC. From a promoter's perspective this leaves Sydney with an odd mix of venue capacities.

The Hordern Pavilion at around 5,000, this new proposal at 8,000, but then nothing until you get to the Superdome with 21,000.

It's all bing handed over to developers so minimum stuff for minimum price to maximize apartment space sales.

SuperDome is only 21000 for in the round with floor seating. For most end stage concerts they get to 17,000. Still a big jump from 8000 but not as big.

There is the top link is to the entire submission on the DOP website....i just selected the upper plan so people could get a feel for the space...but I'm not a fan of the one sided sports hall....they have taken a multipurpose stadium removed 4000 seats and made it a single purpose convention centre....I'm also no a fan of the exhibition space with columns every 27m ..... Class B exhibition replacing class A column free space...you wouldn't be able to hold the same events that were held for the Olympics in the existing halls....it's a major step backwards I'm my opinion.
