When the game's played in 4 states of one country you can repeat the last 3 seasons' games during summer, and roll out 5 bald meat headed bogans for some lame panel show to get your content up.
You really need to stop posting when you're rolling drunk yob.

Expressions of interest to develop a masterplan which, subject to management approval, will be submitted to government for planning approval which if successful will then consider consider funding it when the 4 year election cycle comes around.

Stadium WA will reach EOEUL before this thing gets built..

I've seen pickle-on-maccas-window-races go faster.

Who decided they need $250 million? Certainly not an engineer, architect, quantity surveyor etc - becaue they don't have a design.

Obviously someone has just figured out the amount of rent you can seek from the state government without causing a fuss. They probably know the formula for calculating acceptable overages to the nearest 10 million as well.

The amount of money wasted on this piece of sh*t post Olympics would have built a bloody nice stadium. And a grandstand at the SCG to accommodate the 3 Swans games they did once.

More than 1.6 million fans attended events at ANZ Stadium in 2013. Five major events alone last year — a FIFA World Cup qualifier, two State of Origin games, the deciding Wallabies v Lions rugby Test and the A-League All Stars v Manchester United classic — drew a total of 411,545 fans through the gates, upwards of 45,000 visitors to NSW, and was worth $100 million to the NSW economy.
While the oval sport events drew 2/5 of f**k all...

Rectangularise it now.

AFL in 2013 - 104,297 in 3 matches at an average of 34,766. And an additional final that drew 37,980. So when the SCG is complete the atmosphere can bounce off 10,000 seats or 40,000 at the moneypit.

When they work together, the AFL and Cricket lobby is effective:(
pity:(
the T20 BBL could work just fine at Skoda as could the GWS. 1 BBL franchise at SCG the other at Skoda. simples.
T20 Ints at SCG.
When the SCG is 50k ANZ should be rectangularised. No oval event at ANZ has achieved a crowd bigger than the new SCG capacity.

Didn't the T20 the other day go a fair way over?

Still a waste.

You don't just run a ruler through two data points and say Swans games will get 0 in 30 years. This isn't climate change science.

I'm more of the view the 20k isn't worth chasing after anyway. Maybe you get a bit of revenue (if the bigger venue doesn't snaffle it, big if). But you're better off building scale and reducing costs with a second team at your existing venue. The second AFL side should've been hived off the Swans supporter base and based at the SCG.

The fact that Swans attendances at ANZ have dived since the mid "norties" is important. When you add to this the fact that the market in the area is now being serviced by GWS the need for the Swans to play out there is greatly diminished. Add also the increase in capacity and improvement in quality at the SCG and the only reason to retain ANZ as an AFL shaped venue is the AFL's novel idea that one day their code will be more than a niche sport in Sydney.
