Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre

The Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre is a two-arena complex built in 1994 for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. It regularly plays host to events such as Australian National Championships, Athletics carnivals, Little Athletics and a range of social and corporate events.

The centre can seat 5,000 spectators undercover in the Betty Cuthbert grandstand and up to an additional 8,000 on grassed banks. The facility features a suspended roof and an IAAF approved state-of-the-art Rekortan synthetic track made by Polytan to facilitate sprint, throws, jumps, hurdles and steeple chase. It also features a 10m x 6m electronic video board, arena lighting and meeting/function rooms. The infield grassed area is a full size playing field (108m x 72m) capable of hosting soccer, rugby union, rugby league, American football games and training. The competition arena is linked to Stadium Australia by an underground tunnel, while located adjacent is a warm-up arena.

The venue's walk of fame is an inspirational trip through Australia's sporting history, with thirteen bronze plaques each celebrating the achievements of a NSW athlete. Among others, here you'll find Betty Cuthbert's great record; Marjorie 'Lithgow Flash' Jackson's domination of world sprinting in the '50s.
