| The Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre is a two-arena complex built in 1994 for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. It plays host to events such as Athletics carnivals, Little Athletics, Australian National Championships, and a range of social and corporate events in the conference and VIP rooms.
The centre can seat 5,000 spectators in the Betty Cuthbert grandstand and another 10,000 on grassed banks. The facility features a 100-tonne suspended roof and a polyurethane and rubber composite track. The stadium will be linked to the Olympic Stadium by an underground walkway. The centre's own walk of fame is an inspirational trip through Australia's sporting history, with thirteen bronze plaques each celebrating the achievements of a NSW athlete. Among others, here you'll find Betty Cuthbert's great record; Marjorie 'Lithgow Flash' Jackson's domination of world sprinting in the '50s.
