A total of $6 million will be spent upgrading two Canberra stadiums.
ACT Sports Minister Andrew Barr has announced next week's budget will include $3.4 million over four years to improve facilities at Manuka Oval.
With Greater Western Sydney playing four games a year in Canberra from next year, the seating capacity at Manuka Oval will be boosted by 4,300 temporary seats to 15,000.
The funding will also cover a forward design of upgrades to the Hawke and Bradman stands, new media and corporate facilities and upgrades to entry facilities.
Mr Barr says they are also investigating lighting for the oval to accommodate night cricket and AFL.
He says lights could cost up to $5 million.
"We've been working closely with the Federal Government around a centenary gift for the city. One of the options we've put forward in the sport portfolio is a co-contribution towards lighting at Manuka," he said.
Canberra Stadium will also be upgraded to the tune of $2.6 million over two years.
The money will go towards waterproofing spectator stands and improving electronic ticketing and IT systems.
