Great history of rugby in WA. I love how they had to debate on whether Aussie rules or rugby would be the dominant code and how they needed to pick one because it needed to be good...lol

Re: The Rugby Thread
I've read that the same thing happened in Queensland (probably around the same time) and Rugby union won the vote.Egan wrote:http://www.theroar.com.au/2012/03/14/ov ... oked-west/

Re: The Rugby Thread
I haven't been paying close attention to Super Rugby this season but have noticed that an unusually large number of games being decided by 1 point.

Pissed that Richard Graham decides mid-season to announce his move to the Reds next season..very poor form IMO. I hope he's not expecting a warm reception from the fans at the next game.

Re: The Rugby Thread
It only took 15 minutes for each of the 3 Wallabies v British Lions Test Matches to sell out. Etihad, Suncorp and ANZ allocations exhausted. Evidently the same happened for the Waratahs v British Lions game at Allianz. With prices up to $295 each thats a fair windfall for the ARU. I'm not sure whether any tickets have been held back for later sale.

Re: The Rugby Thread
Very surprised the Melbourne game isn't at the MCG. Wonder whether the ARU bean-counters are kicking themselves now - an extra 30-40k tickets would have easily sold out and provided an extra 4-5 million in revenue.
I'd love to know the actual numbers of tickets available to the public. Presume it's well under 50% of the seating capacity of the stadiums...

Re: The Rugby Thread
Could be. Lions tours attract a massive following from the UK and Ireland and the ARU is probably making a killing flogging off package tours and hugely inflated ticket prices to the visitors. I wouldn't be surprised if the crowds are split 50% Gold and 50% Red
