2002 Redevelopment

The WACA Ground, WA's premier cricket venue since its 1893 opening until the opening of Optus Stadium, underwent a significant transformation in the winter of 2002 to make it a cricket-only venue.

Features of the development included demolishing the Farley and Players stands on the northern side of the ground, replacing the two old stands with a new podium which temporary seating can be erected for matches that will draw large crowds; replacing seats and bringing in the fence line on the western and eastern sides; replacing all existing seats with new seats; a new players pavilion at the southern end; and transforming the members section to the Lillee-Marsh stand.
