Townsville Sports Reserve
Townsville Sports Reserve is a multi-sport facility located in the Queensland city of Townsville. The venue served as the primary outdoor sports ground for the city until the Willows Sports Complex opened in 1994 and features an athletics track and rectangular in-field which can host football, rugby league and union. The venue is the home Athletics North Queensland and NPL QLD team Northern Fury. Notable rugby league games held at the venue in the past include a 1989 Panasonic Cup Quarter final between the Broncos and Eels, a 1990 NSWRL round 6 match between the Bulldogs and Roosters in front of 8,648 fans, a Great Britain Lions tour match v QLD Residents in 1992 and a 1992 Rugby League World Cup match between Australia and PNG in front of a crowd of 12,470, which is believed to be a record crowd. The venue features a main grandstand with undercover seating for 900 spectators, with additional seating in front of the stand, and an overall capacity of around 3,000. There is also 500-lux lighting for night events.
