Casey Fields, a 70 hectare site in Cranbourne East, has been developed by the City of Casey as the premier sports facility in Melbourne's south east and features a broad range of active and passive recreation opportunities for the entire region.
The first stage of the project included the main oval at a cost $4.2 million and opened on 29th April 2006 when over 2,000 fans watched the Casey Scorpions defeat the Box Hill Hawks. The record crowd is 10,099 for a NAB Regional Challenge match between Hawthorn and Essendon in March 2007.
The ground includes a main grandstand with seating for 350 including 200 under cover as well as a function room with a seating capacity of 120. The rest of the ground is surrounded by a grass hill pushing the capacity around the 12,000 mark.
In November 2008, the Melbourne Football Club (AFL) moved their training base from Junction Oval to Casey Fields for a short period. The club has since returned back to near the MCG.
