Hagley Oval is conveniently located in Hagley Park in the central city of Christchurch and has hosted cricket for more than 150 years.

The first cricket match to be played on Hagley Park was on 16 December 1851 as part of the new settlement’s first anniversary celebrations.

Hagley Oval is being redeveloped to become a first-class venue for cricket in Christchurch following the closure of Lancaster Park after the 2011 earthquakes. The ground will host matches during the 2015 Cricket World Cup with temporary seating boosting capacity from 9,000 to 20,000.
