|Queensland Tennis Centre - Austadiums|
The Queensland Tennis Centre including Pat Rafter Arena was completed in December 2008 and hosted its first event, the Brisbane International, in January 2009. Located on the banks of the iconic Brisbane River in Tennyson, the centre provides Brisbane with an international-standard tennis facility for the first time since the closure of the Milton Tennis Centre in 1999.
The centre includes a main arena, which was officially named the Pat Rafter Arena, complete with a roof and permanent seating for 5,500 fans. Also located at the complex is 22 match and training courts including two showcourts. The venue hosts the annual Brisbane International - a lead-up tournament to the Australian Open, which replaced the old Australian Men’s Hardcourt Championships (Adelaide) and the Australian Women’s Hardcourt Championships (Gold Coast).
