WACA Announces New Deal

Austadiums • Monday 19th May 2003

The Western Australian Cricket Association (WACA) has announced that corporate hospitality provider, Corporate Sports Australian, has signed as naming rights sponsors of the North East Podium.

The three-year deal will see the recently redeveloped 110m by 40m hospitality area re-named the Corporate Sports Podium, and will give the company exclusive corporate hospitality rights to the space during test and one day internationals.

Darren Beazley, the WACA's GM of business development, told On Sport that the area offers flexible hospitality space which can be used for marquee style hospitality as well as for a temporary setting.

It is understood that the net gain to the WACA from the deal is in the vicinity of $500K over the period and that the association also receives some revenue based on the hospitality sales in the area.

Beazley also said they were very close to securing a deal for the Players Pavilion. We reported in On Sport Issue 44 that the naming rights package was being offered for $110K pa.

The Lillie-Marsh Stand, which we reported was being offered at around $175K pa, will either be sold as a separate property or be bundled into a major WACA deal.

Beazley said that although they are taking a very realistic approach to the marketing of their sponsorship properties they are being very careful not to over corporatise the Lillie-Marsh Stand with sponsor signage because of its historical significance.

The WACA is to also install a replay screen by October and will be offering sponsorship of the property either in a stand-alone capacity or as part of a major deal.
