Simonds, Victoria's most-awarded homebuilder and long-time sponsor of the Geelong Cats, is proud to announce that from 2012 the Cats' home ground will be known as Simonds Stadium.
Gary Simonds, director of Simonds Homes, said today,
"We've been a coach sponsor for the last six years and we're proud to have helped the club achieve the success it has. So given our passion for the Geelong Football Club and our company's commitment to the area, this was a natural step to take."
With in excess of 40 display centres in Victoria, including three in the greater Geelong area, Simonds builds over 2,300 homes every year.
In announcing this deal Geelong Cats chief-executive, Brian Cook said, "The Geelong Cats are proud to be associated with three generations of the Simonds' family in this new naming rights partnership of our stadium,"
"The Simonds brand has adorned our coach for the last six years and they've have chosen to relinquish that asset and elevate their partnership to include stadium naming rights for the next five years,"
"We feel very comfortable naming the ground Simonds Stadium within Kardinia Park, as the Simonds brand is highly regarded nationwide for quality and value for money" said Mr Cook.
In welcoming the new partnership with Simonds, Mr Cook said also "I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Skilled for their naming rights partnership of our ground for the last 10 years. Skilled have been a long, loyal supporter of the Club and I would like to acknowledge their commitment to the Geelong Cats".
The new stadium name commences November 1.
