The Queensland government is intervening to ensure the Brisbane Broncos can play the semi-finals on their home ground.

One of the original conditions on Suncorp Stadium was a limit of 24 events per year with a crowd greater than 25,000.

But this year, the Brisbane Roar soccer team had huge support and won the A-League competition, and the Queensland Reds also had a massive season and won the Super Rugby final.

Treasurer Andrew Fraser today said the Bledisloe Cup in late August and the regular Brisbane Broncos crowds would see the stadium reach its limit of 24 big events.

The government was considering changing the stadium's conditions to ensure the Broncos didn't lose a home ground advantage in the semis.

"The Broncos, firmly in the top four, would face either not playing at Lang Park or having to play their semi-final in NSW and I don't think anyone wants to see that," he told ABC Radio, calling the stadium by its traditional name.

"The alternative, that's right, would be to say the Broncos can only have 25,000 people at a semi-final match."

Mr Fraser, who is the local MP for the suburbs around the stadium, said the community would be consulted about the changes, but there was a low level of complaints about big events.
